Videos are an extremely versatile and impactful marketing tool. Creating a video for your business allows you to tell your story, show the personality of your business, and demonstrate what sets you apart from the competition. You can share videos on your website, social media, YouTube, through email campaigns, and more. Filming a video interview is a simple, easy way to create a successful marketing video. Brooke Danner, account manager for Zoomers RV, explains in her own words why video is so crucial to successful marketing.
“Video content is one of the most informative and effective means of communication from a business to their potential customers. Done well, it can help to bring life and a personality to a business, forging a deeper connection with potential customers. When customers see not just a business, but the inspiration or idea behind the business and the people who make it happen, they’re more likely to form a relationship and choose that business over the competition.”
Content Creator at Clear Vision Media, Michael Pappas, shares some tips and tricks on how to film interviews which will engage your audience and tell a meaningful story. The first step toward a successful video interview is making the client feel comfortable.
“No matter how big or small the interview, one of the most important things to remember is to always make sure your client is comfortable during the interview. It’s your responsibility to show them respect and attempt to place them in a zone of comfort. It’s very noticeable when a person is uncomfortable during an interview. Whenever someone shows signs of discomfort it automatically takes away from the interview and throws it all off. Demonstrating good body language is a great way to help this,” explains Michael.
Building a strong relationship with our client and creating a comfort zone for them is crucial to producing a successful video. The next step is making sure you are prepared for the shoot and have all the equipment and gear you need.
- The obvious first step is to arrive early. No one can ever determine what could go wrong with the location or gear. Give yourself that extra time to prep successfully.
- Never try to attempt an interview on your own. Always bring at least one other crew member to help. Everyone sees things differently. Allow for another person’s input and advice to help the process better unfold.
- After you’ve set your equipment up and are ready to go, run through a practice take before starting the official interview. Test things like audio and that your light and angles look good.
With these basic steps in mind, filming an interview should be a breeze. Creating video content will also kickstart your marketing strategy and give viewers a fist-hand look into your business.
